Happy Epiphany Eve, traditionally called Twelfth Night. Now take down your Christmas tree. It is customary. Oh well, leave it up a bit longer if you like, but you have to promise to read (or watch) this timeworn but still lovely story. It is a good meter to tell if your heart has become hard or remained soft to touches of grace. The movie, a segment of O. Henry’s Full House (1952), is as much a tear-jerker as the short story. If you’d like to have the story read to you, remember that you can open up the Substack app (instead of reading directly from email) and click the icon at the top of the screen.
